Commerce Department reports Japan bought 56.019 million dollars of U S cotton in the first eight months, up 17.659 million from 1936. August exports to Japan reached 17,049 bales valued at 1,194,388 dollars, while total raw cotton exports in August stood at 220,000 bales valued at 15,129,000 dollars.
