Walter Sikes of Amarillo Country Club defeated Jack Lyons of Raton New Mexico seven up and six to play to win the Northwest Texas and Eastern New Mexico golf title after rain shortened play. Lyons led hole one but Sikes dominated from hole three, finishing with a 39 east and 37 west for a strong 76. Woolsey shot 72 to tie Greenhill. Woolsey low qualifier with 39. Fred Bone and Sam Vaughn led the event organization, delivering big league style finals.

J L Allred of Wildorado Dies in Chillicothe Texas

J L Allred aged 79 died Sunday at his daughter's home in Chillicothe. He had lived near Wildorado for 25 years and was a Civil War veteran born in Tennessee. Survived by widow, four sons I A Fr C and R M Allred Wildorado and J B Allred Wichita Falls. four daughters Mrs L T Randal Chillicothe Mrs A R Norman Mrs J F Daniel and Mrs Ben Floyd Wildorado. Fire destroys San Jacinto house in early morning blaze

Fire of undetermined origin destroyed the house and furniture at 903 Carolina avenue. Fire chief Karl Curry said no one was at home and investigators found no usable clues. The property, believed to belong to H. T. Brady, suffered about 1500 dollars in damage.

Jacksonville Florida September 14 1926 police probe a mob of 140 men that tarred and feathered two sisters after a thirty day sentence for disorderly conduct. The women were seized from a city prison farm and paraded to a secluded spot where tar and feathers were applied before being returned to a rooming house in gunny sacks.

Fast St Louis Ill Sept 14 A belt buckle and a wedding ring were the main clues for police to identify a man and a woman whose charred bodies were found in a burned automobile near here. No license tags or motor number identified the owner. The car lay amid twisted steel and embers near an infrequently used road about half a mile from the National Trail.
