Her husband a Norwegian Parliament member removed Norway s gold before the invasion melting it and escaping by boat. She remained in Norway a year after occupation before fleeing to Sweden and reaching her husband in America. She has over 1000 hours of duty and will speak at a public address to be announced by Potter County Red Cross Chapter chairman E Byron Singleton.
Amarillo’s war price and rationing board announces a September quota of 60 new passenger cars for the district. This is the smallest allocation since rationing began and 40 percent below August. No new cars have been manufactured since February 1942 and eligibility is tightening as the quota shrinks.
At the Texas Democratic Convention in Dallas anti-Roosevelt factions clashed publicly as signs against a fourth term were torn down. The scene featured William Kittrell tearing down a sign and an anti-Roosevelt poster shredded amid heated declarations.
