Corpus Christi report states W. Don Carls, roommate of Alfred Steinbach of Cincinnati, held without bond for murder after a preliminary hearing. Steinbach, who disappeared July 7, was found September 1 on a ranch ten miles south. Deputy James B. Shaw testified Carlis said Steinbach was slain by a man named Charlie during a liquor robbery.
In Brownfield Texas on September 11 jury deliberation was expected tonight in the J. A. Bonds murder case over the fatal shooting of groceries man J. C. White. Testimony was presented today as bonds and White families intersected in a marriage between White's daughter and Bonds' son. Berry's rug cleaning advertises nearby services.
Fifty negro suspects were questioned in Fort Worth over the fatal shooting of Ted Nodurft and an attack on his fiancée in Wichita Falls. Detectives Jackson and Wichita Falls officials provided a description of two alleged assailants. Nodurft died in hospital. his companion suffered shock. State rangers were deployed to assist.

The Dallas News received a telegram from Lynn P. Talley governor of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas saying he was unable to comment on reports he would become chairman of the Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association in San Francisco. Talley was vacationing near Ann Arbor Michigan and did not deny the appointment. Col C C Walsh chairman of the Reserve Bank said the board had no inkling of the change when it met in Dallas Tuesday.
In Jonesboro Arkansas troops patrolled the town to keep order amid a church dispute led by evangelist Rev Joe Jeffers who accused Pastor Dr D H Heard of unbecoming conduct. A confrontation at City Hall resulted in a mayoral assault by a follower and sparked martial law fears though guards were not deployed.
In Austin on September 11, the Texas House endorsed a delay in the planned purchase of the Goodnight buffalo herd. Rep. B. F. Vaughan urged postponement while the government offers buffalo from Yellowstone National Park. The State Game Department would study accepting the herd, with cost debated but funded by hunting license fees, not taxes.
Rabbi Hymen Holden arrived in Amarillo from Dallas to preside over Rosh Hashana at Temple B Nai Israel. Services begin 7 p m this evening and 8 a m Saturday with joint participation of Reform and Orthodox members. Businesses close Saturday for the holy day. Yom Kippur begins September 21.
Oklahoma City reports Ollie Rowland an 18 year old Yukon High School athlete died from injuries after a crash four miles northwest of Yukon. A 17 year old girl, Miss Davie Madison, was injured in the same accident.
Roy Greene Jr. was fatally injured when a horse kicked him in Whitesboro Texas yesterday. The child suffered a fractured skull from the hoof impact and was taken by Griggs ambulance. Phone 4311.
Oklahoma City Sept 11 C C Julian promoter of oil and mining ventures was indicted by a federal grand jury on mail fraud charges connected with the C C Julian Oil Royalties Company. Judge Edgar B Vaught said several associates were also indicted and warrants to be issued, Julian not yet arrested and believed to be out of the city per his attorney.
A $50 000 ice manufacturing and cold storage plant unit at 1001 Garfield Street received city hall approval Friday. The 70 by 145 foot brick and tile building is for H. C. Badger and Alex Davidson. Plans by architect H. M. Warren anticipate future units with a November 15 completion date.
The body of J. F. Robinson burned in the wreck of an eastbound Southern Pacific locomotive five miles southeast of Austin was sent to Ennis for burial. Engineer Donald McColl, 67, found in the cab, will be buried tomorrow.

The Texas railroad commission tightens East Texas proration on September 11 to limit drilling. After 12:01 PM on September 15, not more than one well may be drilled on each 20 acre tract, subdividing fields so 20-acre units have length no more than twice their width.
Five Texas oil and gas organizations with a combined 1235 members merged in Dallas to form the Texas Oil and Gas Conservation Association. Charles F. Roeser of Fort Worth was named temporary president as the contributing members retain their original identities.
Thurman Hill of the Kansas Public Service Commission urged the Mid-Continent States Oil Conference to fix crude oil production and imports at 2,392,000 barrels daily with a 10 percent monthly cut until a fair price is reached. The plan calls for a September 15 start and automatic curtailment if a fair price is not in effect within 40 days.

Dr. Sydney E. Mezes former University of Texas president and emeritus head died in Pasadena California last night friends reported. He had traveled from Tucson Arizona for his health and had been in California for medical reasons.
Seattle dispatch reports pilots Moyle and Allen disappeared after taking a second hand monoplane from Tokio toward Seattle. No trace was found by ships from three nations, though hope persists they may be alive if they landed on an Aleutian or Alaskan shore, with a large multinational search ongoing and plans to spread news of any sighting.
The Navy Department acting for President Hoover will cooperate with the Red Cross to provide medical supplies and aid for hurricane sufferers in Belize British Honduras. Plans call for planes carrying medical supplies from the canal zone and ships to Belize. The minesweeper Swan near Trujillo Honduras was hours from Belize when the storm hit.
