Jury Selected for Simmons Insurance Swindling Case
A jury was chosen in district court for the J. H. Simmons swindling case tied to selling insurance. Poisoning Case Ties Roswell Ex-Athlete to Langenegger Family
Carl Holden 26 a former Hagerman athlete held on 25000 bond in Roswell NM on charges of trying to poison Er nes t Langenegger cotton planter and his family. Langenegger and four sons were treated in El Paso for arsenic poisoning with meals, a diluted dose sparing their lives. Holden worked as a farm hand on the Langenegger ranch and previously played basketball for Roswell.

Baton Rouge announced 15 state police officers captured three persons, including a woman, in a dawn raid on a gangster hideout near Natchez Mississippi. The raid produced no gunfire, and officials linked the trio to a six member gang tied to a Gulfport policeman killing. A fourth gang member, Goldie Hairston, was found dead near Jena Louisiana after an escape.

John Harp Charged in Fatal Accident Near Amarillo
John Harp of near Stratford was charged before Justice of the Peace H. W. Duke with negligent homicide in an automobile crash that fatally injured Mrs. L. J. Sparks. The wreck occurred about seven miles north of Amarillo on Highway 5 on August 18. Mrs. Sparks died August 31.
