Paris dispatch reports French high command saying its armies move across the German frontier through wooded approaches toward the Siegfried line. The advance signals continued pressure on German defenses as World War II operations unfold.
Wartime dispatch notes local advances by French and British forces along the western front with renewed attacks to relieve Poland. German reinforcements move into the Siegfried Line sector from Luxembourg to Lauterbourg while fighting spans from the Saar Basin to the Swiss frontier.
