Conductor R P Jarrett announced plans for a consolidated teachers institute with top educators invited to speak. About one thousand teachers from twenty three counties will register September 7 and attend sessions through September 11. Fund Raised to Aid Family After Home Destroyed
B J Nelson has collected between 100 and 125 dollars to aid Will Rowe whose house at 604 Cherry Street and all contents burned last week leaving him with a wife and two children and little insurance. Nelson started the fund and gathered many names, expressing thanks for the generous response and noting the Labor party will consider the matter at the next conference.

Slater to Speak at Lubbock Labor Day Event
George Slater of Dallas and K. C Minter of Houston will headline Lubbock Labor Day observances. The South Plains division, representing about twenty unions, will stage an all day celebration with a parade, a city auditorium speech, band concert, baseball game, and free picture show. Minter will speak in the afternoon on organized labor as a church and government ally.
