Jail Girl, Unharmed Is Free After Wild Abduction

Storms Scatter Planes From Midwest to Coast

Approximately a score of planes including 17 Army jet P 80s en route to the West Coast from the Cleveland National Air Races flew into heavy storms. Heirens Attempts Suicide in Jail Before Sentencing

William Heirens the confessed triple slayer attempted to hang himself in his county jail cell early today using a sheet tied to a cell bar. Sheriff Mulcahy said a guard cut him down almost immediately and four guards were suspended for allowing the attempt.
