Petition claims unpaid poll taxes some voters were underage and one box lacking presiding judge signature on ballots.
The Associated Press reports Reds used burning torches tied to hundreds of water buffalo to stampede into barbed wire at Changsha. Defense guns halted the attack, while clashes occurred south of the city with small losses. The Nationalists claimed 10,000 Reds killed, but other reports did not confirm.
Miss Coral Mae Dunn a 19 year old of Mineral Wells and Herbert Smith 21 of Weatherford died when the automobile overturned on the Bankhead highway five miles west of Weatherford early today Walter Fant 21 of Weatherford was injured probably fatally He had been returning Miss Dunn to Mineral Wells after a visit Fant suffered a fractured skull and a broken arm and was unconscious at Weatherford Hospital Dunns body was sent to Mineral Wells
The National Congress began Gandhi Week in Bombay with a salt protest on Chowpatty Sands. Thousands joined as a large police force kept order. Later, the secretary of the Congress committee, Mr. Trivedi, and the editor of the Congress Bulletin, Mr. Vuzder, were arrested.
In Renteria Spain martial law was declared after rioting erupted during a general strike proclaimed at noon. All business houses closed as authorities imposed tight controls to quell unrest.
A telegram from Walter Irvin of Amarillo reports that none of the Texas delegates at the Veterans of Foreign Wars national encampment in Baltimore were among the 150 people stricken with food poisoning yesterday. Other dispatches say affected delegates recovered. illness blamed on heat and injudicious eating was less serious than initially feared.
Reports from Kabul say the Afghan government executed rebels by shooting them from cannons two or three at a time to conserve gun powder. On one day 22 rebels were sentenced to death and the sentences were carried out the next day.

Ray Sutton, a federal prohibition agent from Clayton New Mexico, has been missing since August 28 near Raton. A search party led by the Raton sheriff includes local officers and over a dozen men to comb the Clayton Raton area as Sutton is feared murdered after investigating a fellow officer’s slaying in Aguillar Colorado. Sutton was once sheriff of Union county and is survived by his wife a son Raymond and a daughter Mia Raymond Means of Portales New Mexico.
A and M ex students and college officials gathered Friday morning in Amarillo awaiting a Lockheed monoplane said to be arriving from New York. Burt Hull of Houston announced he would attend the Roundup and Panhandle A M Club dance. Dr T O Walton and E E McQuillan arrived with local leaders to host events and speak at a Kiwanis luncheon.
Chicago report says 17 year old Luyle Wilkinson and 19 year old Neil Kleckner planned to kill Police Chief A A Terry of Midlothian to steal money for a marriage license. Wilkinson, an athlete from Fenger High School, lured Terry to a swampy area where a blow was to be struck. Terry fired four shots at Kleckner as he fled.
Photo shows Dr Gunnar Horn and crewman Bratvanga aboard a ship bound for Tromsoe Norway. They carry the remains of Salomon Auguste Andree and Swedish colleagues found on White Island 33 years after their 1890 North Pole airship attempt. Relics including sleds and Andree’s diary are also returned.
NEA Service broke a speed record handling a photo of Dr. Gunnar Horn and his sealing ship en route to Tromsoe Norway with the Andree Arctic balloon relics. The image traveled about 9000 miles in just over 24 hours via radiophoto and telephoto transmissions to Berlin London New York and NEA bureaus nationwide.
From Thomson Norway Sept 5 the Andree balloon expedition notes up to Sept 5 are legible but later log pages are unreadable. The trio may have reached White Island in September after crossing the Arctic sea and a disaster is indicated by the abrupt end of the flight before reaching the North Pole.
Fort Worth reporters and photographers back from covering Conte’s landing recall police baton clashes as they tried to photograph the famous fliers. They compare the crowd control to the Lindbergh and Robbins and Kelly events, noting the police enabled better picture opportunities in past headlines.
Conte and Bellonte and their crew took off late from the field after a long wait. They handled fuel pumping and propeller startup troubles and then launched the ascent with the ship that earned them aviation fame and records for over two hours.

The Junior Welfare League Style show runs 9 to 10 p m at the Nat with league members as models and Ted Jennings Original Arkansas Travelers providing music plus dancing 10 to 12 p m.
