Shock Fences Studied by Cornell
Cornell researchers led by Prof H W Riley studied electric fences to find safe shock levels for livestock. Tests show animals feel small currents but higher currents stop them. voltage interacts with dry footing and possible current limiting transformers. All animals felt three milliamperes with ten milliamperes stopping young Jer sey heifers and fifteen to twenty milliamperes needed for full grown beef cattle. Airline safety operations for the year ending June 30 showed a 50 percent increase over the previous year.
