Eduard Benes, key founder and twice president of Czechoslovakia, died at his Serinovo country home at 6:10 pm after a stroke and a long illness. The peasant-born statesman, who helped form the 1918 republic, was 64 and had witnessed the 1948 Communist coup and the death of Foreign Minister Jan Masaryk.

Davis Scott a 22 year old Negro held on assault with intent to rob Jack Fowlkes after a robbery night Aug 2. Robert A. Mitchell identified him as one of two assailants who stole money a fountain pen and a pencil set during the Sixth and Monroe attack.
