Big Bertha the South Pasadena fire engine returns to service
South Pasadena’s first fire engine Big Bertha, purchased in 1915 and retired eight years ago, was rehired to fill a new reservoir. Attached to a fire hydrant, it pumped 150000 gallons of water in nine hours without a stop to avoid preventing regular duties by newer equipment.
