British expedition strikes back at Bias Bay destroying pirate villages Che ungpai and Fanlokong in reprisal for attacks on shipping. About 150 British troops land, burn dozens of pirate homes, and dynamite five more houses in Chengpai and Fanlokong. residents offer little resistance.
More than 500 American Legion delegates gathered in Galveston to depart aboard the French liner Chicago for Paris. New Orleans hosts greeted 200 delegates, with a reception committee and badges granting free access to theaters beaches and races.

An indignation meeting tonight at the Amarillo high school will discuss forming a group to push for a new school in Randall county for south Amarillo district children. Roy Lindsey, a Randall county resident, says residents have paid taxes for years and want a nearer school within a mile and a half. He urges all Randall county district property owners to attend.

Amarillo reported August postal receipts of 35,275.10 dollars, up 5,360.17 from the prior year’s 29,914.92. The rise represents a 15 percent increase year over year.
