Bandit game accident wounds young Nadine Estes

A 2 1/2 year old Nadine Estes was shot in the feet and legs during a game of bandit played by neighborhood children. Billy Redding, 4, loaded a shotgun and accidentally discharged, wounding Nadine and scattering shot through her shoes and stockings. She was treated at St. Anthony's sanitarium. amputation was avoided.

Halt Ordered In Picketing By Governor

Colorado governor W H Adams ordered an end to I W W led picketing in the state, delivering the ultimatum to Roger Franceton at Waldenberg HQ through the adjutant general. Franceton said he would recommend ceasing picketing after consulting leaders. a day was asked for a definite reply.

Tonight and Tuesday will be fair with temperatures ranging from 43 to 71 degrees. Hourly readings show a steady rise from 43 at 7 A M to a high of 71 by 1 P M, compared with 63 and 33 a year ago.

Death toll rises in British Isles gale

London reports the death list from the great gale now stands at more than 60. Most fatalities occurred from the destruction of fishing craft along the west coast of Ireland where forty persons were reported dead.

Vaile Death Believed From Accidental Fall

Investigators believe G. F. Vaile, 29, traveling salesman, fell from the sixth floor of a Dallas hotel Saturday and died. The body was sent to Logansport, Indiana, for burial at the request of his father George R. Vaile. Vaile had worked as a Dallas based traveling salesman for several years.

Austin Theaters Fined For Sunday Operation Test of Blue Sunday Law

Seven Austin theater managers were fined $20 and costs each in corporation court for operating on Sunday. The fines followed a Sunday opening test of the blue Sunday law, which is not enforced in other major Texas cities.

Amarillo and the Panhandle residents are urged to assist at a free orthopedic clinic Tuesday in the Potter County library basement. Dr Earl McBride from Oklahoma City leads the examination for crippled children including those affected by infantile paralysis birth or accident. Four men injured in Amarillo crash. horse killed

Four men were injured in a nighttime collision four miles north of Amarillo. Three occupants of a Ford were jailed after minor injuries and possible DUI charges were anticipated. A wagon driver was hurt lightly. a horse was killed and the wagon wagon-pole shattered the Ford windshield.

Englishwoman Sues Spur Bank for 7500 Dollars

In federal court Miss Margaret Elliott of Bristol England sues Spur National Bank to recover 1500 pounds sterling, about 7500 dollars, arguing the bank had no right to apply the funds to her brother W J Elliott’s debt. The case, before a jury, names Abi line and Amarillo lawyers for the bank and Cooper Lumpkin for the plaintiff. The trial was expected to continue.

Dr Cook Granted U S Court Review

Washington Oct 31 Dr Frederick A Cook Arctic explorer was granted a U S Supreme Court review of a circuit court ruling. The district court had no authority to release him on probation after a 14 year 9 month sentence for mail fraud. The circuit court reversed, saying probation after term ended was not allowed.

Mellon Seeks Lower Figure Of Reduction

Secretary Mellon urged limiting the tax reduction to about 225 million dollars at the start of tax hearings. He proposed a 12 percent corporate tax, allow small partnerships to file, revise surtax rates, repeal the estate tax, and exempt income from bankers’ acceptances held by foreign central banks. He argued to retain auto excises and admissions taxes to keep a balanced system amid no further changes to individual tax rates. He noted surpluses and fiscal-year projections, cautioning that 1929 figures may differ.

Relatives of Boy Found Dead Located Today

Relatives of Nathan Jenkins 24 were located today after his body was found on the Santa Fe tracks at Canyon early yesterday. They live in Ineal Arkansas. Funeral plans await further advice. A purse with over 20 dollars and letters from relatives were found on his person. The body was brought to Griggs Funeral Parlors for funeral arrangements.
