Resident Jordan Williams awoke to find a 1940 grey Ford coupe wedged in his entrance after a midnight thud. Police were called as the crime seemed to be a car theft attempt, with E J Kellogg later identifying his own vehicle from the back lot.

Shirtsleeves gathered as Amarillo and Panhandle areas saw a warming trend. The low held at 53 degrees around midnight and rose through the 50s to 60 by 6 this morning. Forecaster Walter Watts at English Field says fair weather continues with a high around 77 this afternoon after yesterday’s 74. Poor visibility troubled airlines and roads with zero visibility in Lubbock and Pamp a during the night and early morning.

Gasoline Prices Rise Half Cent Across Texas Area

Retail gasoline prices advance by half a cent a gallon with Texas Company tank wagon rates up. Service stations in Amarillo report regular gasoline at 21 to 23.5 cents and ethyl at 22 to 24.5 cents. Oil price increase of 20 cents a barrel cited as cause with more hikes possible.

France in Turmoil After Massive Paris Clashes

In Paris 15 000 Communists clashed with several thousand police and troops in a violent confrontation over a meeting for those oppressed by the Soviets. Police wounded demonstrators and bystanders as order was restored. The attack followed Premier Ramadier’s warning of civil war if France split into camps.
