Fire damages St Pauls Hospital roof in five alarm blaze
A five alarm fire gutted the roof of St Pauls Hospital causing about 125000 dollars in damage. Nine hours after the blaze began at 12 27 a m the building was deemed safe and 260 evacuated patients returned inside. Nuns and nurses guided the orderly evacuation, with 62 patients sent to Baylor, 30 to Parkland, four to Methodist and others home. A 75 year old patient died not from the fire but was treated on a ground floor while a priest gave rites. The hospital planned to resume normal operations by tomorrow.

A nationwide search is under way for Frederick W. Heisler, 30, needed for questioning in the murder of John Gunnish of Martins Ferry Ohio. Gunnish’s body was found near Tucumcari New Mexico on October 12 after being seen with Heisler in Shamrock and Adrian the day before.

A mother Mrs Howell McCullah and her 8 year old son Howell Jr were found unconscious from gas fumes in their Parker Street home.
