City rejects 15 percent gas rate cut proposal

The city commission turned down a proposed 15 percent cut for small users and 10 percent for higher brackets. Domestic rates would drop from 40 to 38 cents per 1000 cubic feet for the first 30 000 feet, next slabs cut to 20 cents, and 2 000 000 cubic feet band to 18 cents. Rates above 2 000 000 feet would stay unchanged. Five customers are unaffected. The denial was conveyed to Nelson K. Moody of Prairie Oil and Gas in his hotel room.

Amarillo Seeks State Aid for Canyon Highway Paving

City officials and the chamber of commerce pursue state and federal aid to cover two thirds of the Canyon highway project from Ong Street to Randall County pavement.
