Man Dies After Car and Train Collision at Panhandle Crossing
Mr. Elder perished in a fiery crash when his 1947 Chevrolet exploded on impact with a train near Gray farm. Eyewitnesses say the car’s gasoline tank ignited, Elder died in the arms of helpers, and the right side of the vehicle was torn away. Elder, age unspecified, leaves a wife and several brothers and a sister. Funeral plans are pending.

Southwestern Public Service to Buy Rule Building in Amarillo
Southwestern Public Service Company announced its purchase of The Rule Building at Third and Polk in Amarillo for about six hundred thousand dollars after modernization. The deal, finalized in St Louis with bondholders, will centralize PPS operations, with a plan to occupy roughly half the building and move the home office there over one to three years as leases permit. The building houses tenants such as Phillips Petroleum, Canadian River Gas, Texhoma Gas, and Columbian Fuel Corporation as PPS plans relocation and future lease arrangements.
