J M O'Brien died at 2401 Hughes Street after months of illness. A 71 year old native of Michigan moved to Amarillo in 1926 and ran the O'Brien Finance Company. Survived by wife Austa, son Max, four sisters and a brother. services at N S Griggs and Sons chapel with Dr. R Thomson officiating. body to Hum boldt for burial.

OPA Files Seven Federal Complaints In Amarillo
The OPA filed seven criminal complaints in federal court today about tire regulation violations and food rationing. Defendants include Robert H. Wilson Kenneth Coates W R Todd and four Amarillo men James Edward Anderson Chester Carter and Robert Abercrombie. Tires were recovered from a Co op Store and sold for 100 over the ceiling. Anderson allegedly took 400 pounds of sugar and canned tomatoes. Carter Whiteing and Abercrombie allegedly bought some of the produce. The cases mark Amarillo’s first such actions.
