Grenades Threat At Brooklyn Tavern Over Hat Dispute

Ter rance ONeill a Royal Navy gun crewman and two accomplices reportedly terrorized customers at a Brooklyn saloon after a dock worker stole ONeill's petty officer hat. He returned with three grenades but left when police arrived. he was later arrested with grenades found in his pockets.

Loss of 24 Fine Horses in Fort Worth Fire

A barn fire at A. J. B. Beasley’s in Fort Worth killed 24 top show horses including Marguerite Livingston and Royal Fascination. Beasley, though burned and blinded by smoke, was rescued and expected to recover. The horses had just returned from the West Coast circuit and were to compete at the Dallas County Horse Show later this month.

Dallas reports say J H McLaurin of the United States wholesale grocers association warns housewives may need to accept substitute brands or items due to national defense demands. He notes shifts could occur as manufacturers repurpose facilities for essential goods, though near-term shortages are not guaranteed. Roy F Hendrickson adds that the first 502 million dollars for lend-lease food purchases for Britain will soon be exhausted and calls for higher U S production of pork eggs evaporated milk and cheese.

Rehearsal Tonight For The Messiah In Amarillo

The first rehearsal of Amarillo singers for the 18th Handel oratorio The Messiah is tonight at 8 at the Amarillo College of Music auditorium. The Christmas performance is Sunday afternoon Dec 14 at the same venue with out of town singers joining locals. No cost to participants and area choruses will assist.
