German controlled sources in Norway report a diphtheria outbreak among Oslo school children and fear spread to other cities. Interior ministry extends 1940 vaccination order to cover diphtheria with Oslo swift compulsory campaigns.

Ter rance ONeill a Royal Navy gun crewman and two accomplices reportedly terrorized customers at a Brooklyn saloon after a dock worker stole ONeill's petty officer hat. He returned with three grenades but left when police arrived. he was later arrested with grenades found in his pockets.
J. S. Morris of Hardeman King Grain and Feed says Panhandle cattle miss grapefruit and other citrus feeds despite shortages in the Rio Grande Valley. He notes citrus pulp and peel are salvage feeds with limited food value and high transport costs. Freight rates and off-season citrus slow use, as humans remain the primary consumers of grapefruit in the Panhandle.
Quincy Massachusetts reports Andrew Stewart the city forester since 1932 creates over 70 garden spots citywide with no special funds. He and his son transform discarded items into plant displays, boosting urban greenery.

A barn fire at A. J. B. Beasley’s in Fort Worth killed 24 top show horses including Marguerite Livingston and Royal Fascination. Beasley, though burned and blinded by smoke, was rescued and expected to recover. The horses had just returned from the West Coast circuit and were to compete at the Dallas County Horse Show later this month.

He notes shifts could occur as manufacturers repurpose facilities for essential goods, though near-term shortages are not guaranteed. Roy F Hendrickson adds that the first 502 million dollars for lend-lease food purchases for Britain will soon be exhausted and calls for higher U S production of pork eggs evaporated milk and cheese.
The first rehearsal of Amarillo singers for the 18th Handel oratorio The Messiah is tonight at 8 at the Amarillo College of Music auditorium. The Christmas performance is Sunday afternoon Dec 14 at the same venue with out of town singers joining locals. No cost to participants and area choruses will assist.
