In Madrid disorders followed a vote on Article 24 favoring Jesuit expulsion and nationalization of church property as Basque and Navarre deputies shouted religious slogans and clashes occurred. The article passed 178 to 59. Vatican officials reacted with disappointment but not alarm, believing the church’s position would recover once conditions in Spain stabilize.

The Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed Carl Hefner's murder conviction, with a 99 year penitentiary sentence. Hefner and Emmett Thompson, both stockmen from near Pampa, were indicted for Crabtree's death, allegedly killed by blows and stamping. Hefner did not file statements of facts or bills of exception.
In Linton Texas on October 14 the jury weighing Newton Yarberry murder charges against Dorothy Dorcas Symons an 18 year old choir singer stood 11 to 1 at 10 a m. The spokesman said the majority favors neither verdict. Judge Cox urged more deliberation as the jurors retired to continue talks.
Barney Cohen, driver for B. M. Cleaners & Dyers at 201 West Sixteenth Avenue, reports robbers stole $16 after blocking his truck near Hayden Street. He described a masked man who demanded money and fled. Cohen could not give a description. The robbery was reported to police at 7 o'clock Tuesday night.
Berlin Oct 14 Nationalist Fascist deputies, after a February boycott, returned to the Reichstag as Wilhelm Frick denounced Chancellor Heinrich Bruening. Frick, seen as a future fascist chancellor, led loud denouncements while deputies shouted Hail and then left the hall.
Edison grew increasingly weaker last night but the physician said there is no cause for immediate concern. Dr Hubert S Howe issued a bulletin noting Edison rested quietly and while there are increasing signs of weakness nothing has developed to cause immediate worry.
New York October 14 local organizations formed as units of the National Credit Corp. The central committee in New York works on final details as actual operations begin next week to lend to banks. Initial funds exceed 30 million with potential rise to one billion dollars. Incorporation filed in Delaware through Corporation Trust Co. Hoover asked to ease banking tensions. No interest rate set yet for notes or debentures. Subscriptions flood in for the initial offering.
Potter County tax collector J. W. Collins announced extended hours till midnight tomorrow for the 1930 levy. The school tax office also stays open. Taxes due January 31 become delinquent after tomorrow with 10 percent interest through October 16 and a 5 percent penalty if unpaid. 6 percent more interest after October 16.
In Dallas on October 14 a group of alleged marriage insurance dealers faced federal charges for mail misuse but their trial was postponed at the request of Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Menezes. The case will be continued to the January term as several defendants remain fugitives.
Eddie Parchman, a Black man, was found guilty of forgery by a Potter County criminal district court jury and sentenced to two years in the penitentiary. He cashed a check claimed to be issued by C. A. Holley at the Public Market for $4.67 in groceries and took the remaining cash. Berry's Rug Cleaning. 905 W. 10th.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals reversed Horace Wells five year liquor law conviction in Potter County and ordered retrial due to error admitting testimony about a 195 gallon liquor transaction. The court affirmed a three year auto theft sentence for Blackie McDaniel. Both defendants were tried in Potter County before Judge Henry H. Bishop.
President Hoover will address the nation over the radio next Sunday night to support the Gifford relief fund drives. The speech is expected between 6 and 6 30 P M at the White House with a nationwide appeal for relief contributions.
Weather outlook for Amarillo and West Texas calls for fair skies and cooler conditions tonight with continued fair weather Thursday. Panhandle and New Mexico expect little temperature change, with frost possible in the northeast tonight. Extremes recorded today ranged from 50 to 69 degrees.
