Yates Lee of Ruston Louisiana reported to sheriff officers that while counting $32 at Fifth Avenue and Tavnor Street a thief grabbed the money and fled. Lee chased the man but he vanished into a store. He then went to the bus station to inform officers and provided a description of the suspect.

In Houston on October 11 an escaped convict O Neal Magcvey told police he was playing guitar so intently in a Montgomery County woodland hideout that he did not hear the posse. Texas Ranger Fred Olson and three Houston detectives located the hideout and captured him. Two brothers were detained in connection with harboring Magcvey.
J M Simpson former Potter County judge is reported in very poor condition at St Anthony's Hospital with hospital attendants saying his state is critical. The
Berlin reports Germany will shorten shirts by 2 inches to reduce raw material use and cotton imports. The new length will be only slightly longer than women’s blouses, already shorter than American and English shirts.

The club voted to send flowers to Vernon Martin injured UT football star hospitalized in Madison Wisconsin after Texas victory over Wisconsin.
Chief Fred Hickman of the Texas Highway Patrol visited Amarillo and the Panhandle today. He planned to spend the night here and is on a regular tour of district offices.
