Trial Postponed for Red Craig in Amarillo Murder Case

The murder trial of G A Red Craig, linked to the death of George Engman, was delayed as Craig’s attorney Clem Calhoun went to Pampa after a 200‑man venire reported to Judge E C Nelson. Engman died two days after a nightclub affray on the Canyon Highway in South Amarillo. George Sargent, jailed with Craig, was no billed by a Potter County grand jury. Ferrin Rowland confessed to drowning his two young stepdaughters in Muddy Bloat Lake near Flint after being captured. Coroner Voorhees found drowning as the cause with no marks of beating. the women were tied with wire and weighted before being dumped into 25 feet of water. In 47th District Court Judge E C Nelson sentenced Mrs Olga Darnell to 60 days in jail with 1 year suspended for driving while drunk after a guilty plea. The judge imposed a 60 day driving ban and warned contempt if violated, citing her lack of prior felony conduct. Fort Worth man questioned in Am arillo skeleton case

Grady Slaton, 27, held in Fort Worth jail, denied knowledge of G Victor White's death after skeleton found in a secret grave near Amarillo. White disappeared February 18, 1932 after leaving 700 Polk Street with Slaton. Slaton, jailed for a Tulsa robbery convic tion, says he last saw White in Liberal Kansas.
