Youth Kills Girl Then Self in Auto Near Colmesneil

Hamilton Bryant, 23, of Colmesneil shot and killed Myris Odom, 16, of Jasper, then killed himself in his car on a rural road five miles from Colmesneil in Tyler County. Justice S. M. Meadows ruled murder and death by own action. The couple had planned to attend a dance at Woodville but found it postponed. Odom died of a heart wound. Bryant reportedly had two pistols. the second was used after the first jammed.
