Fight To Keep Rail Rate Cut In Panhandle Counties

Texas livestock growers press to keep reduced rail rates for feed in more than 30 counties led by Northwest Panhandle and Panhandle Livestock associations. A hearing on Oct 9 in Austin will consider a temporary injunction against the Railroad Commission order maintaining the cuts through Nov 30. County agents and leaders warn drouth counties including Potter face ruin without the two thirds rate, with many state groups traveling to present evidence.

Italians urged to reinforce Spanish war effort

Rome reports Gen Terruzzi called for sending a full Italian army corps to aid the Nationalists in Spain. Word also says Italy may draft men from 1907 to 1908 to northern farming areas for winter duty while consideration of a Franco British invitation to withdraw foreign volunteers unfolds.

Funeral Services Arranged For Two Men In Spectacular Blaze

Two men died in a Sunday morning blaze in Sunray involving the Bruce Hotel and several nearby businesses. Kenneth Hoover 31 and Kenneth Dodge 25 were trapped in the hotel as flames spread through five buildings. Hoover's body was found in his room while Dodge reportedly fell from a window during the escape. Minor injuries were reported among others fleeing the hotel. The fire caused about 25000 in damages and exposed limited local firefighting capacity.

Two Moore County Men Accused After Amarillo Attacks

Clais Burk and Ragan Jones, Moore County men, were held in Potter County jail without bond after allegedly attacking two Amarillo girls early Sunday. Jones posted 4000 bond. both were arrested in Dumas and brought to Amarillo. They were arraigned before Justice H W Duke and remanded to jail pending grand jury action.

Yocum, a coal miner, suffered a head wound from falling rock. He remains troubled by roaring sounds and is undergoing scientific study for the related symptoms.

Two Couples Arrested After Night Ride With Teens

Police report two men and two teenage girls, sisters aged 16 and 18, were picked up after a late night auto ride. The men posted $4,000 bonds and were released. one man is about 25, the other 18. The girls were asked to go home but were taken to another city area.
