Mrs Coyle Wins News Tip Contest for Life-Saving Tip

Mrs. Coyle of 711 West Fifteenth Avenue won the week's news tip contest and $5 for a tip about a dog pushing a child from a car’s path. Second prize of $3 went to Mrs. J. D. Saunders for a rattle snake sighting and warning, while $2 third prize was awarded to Mrs. Fred Debrecht for a better mousetrap catching pests.

Charles E Rosendahl To Arrive Tomorrow In Amarillo

Charles E Rosendahl arrives in Amarillo from Fort Worth and Denver Railway at 8 AM Thursday. He will attend a breakfast at the Herring Hotel, a Rotary Club luncheon, and then broadcast a national defense address from the Tri State Fair grounds. A helium blimp flight over Amarillo and a welcome by local officials are planned, with events broadcast on KGNC.

Aged Holstein Wins First in Milk Contest

Hale's Blackie the aged Holstein owned by H. B. Hales and sons of Amarillo led the second annual milk production contest at the Tri-State Fair with 1164 pounds of milk and 5.2 pounds of butterfat in 48 hours. Other top winners included Gamboge Blond Raleigh Lass a four year old Jersey owned by Chester Elliff of Tulsa and China Cup's Fairy Lillian a three year old Jersey also owned by Elliff.

Panhandle Old Settlers recall early schools and colleges

The Panhandle Old Settlers Association marked its 28th annual meeting at Municipal Auditorium with a program honoring early educators and institutions. Speakers traced the first Panhandle schools, Clarendon College, Canadian Baptist Academy, Miller's Academy, Hereford Christian College, and Amarillo College while a Blue-Back Speller spelling bee closed the event. Sam Isaacs was elected president for the coming year, with Johnnie B. Archer re-elected secretary treasurer and other officers named vice presidents.

Weather Outlook for Amarillo and West Texas

The forecast notes partly cloudy conditions this afternoon with mostly cloudy skies tonight and Thursday. West Texas expects rain in the southern and central areas with little temperature change. New Mexico sees fair northern areas but clouds and scattered showers along the southern border, general rain in the southern half Thursday, seasonal temperatures, and a 24 hour temperature range from 56 to 70 with noon at 64.

Germans Describe Large British Raids on Coasts

Berlin reports a great number of British planes attacked cities on the north western and Baltic coasts causing destruction to dwellings and civilian casualties. London says Hamburg and Stettin were raided, with a large attack on an important supply port on the British east coast and fires in Newcastle.

Will Get His 15 Cents Back

Dallas story reports Joe C. Diltz of Big Spring will recover 15 cents in a courtesy action after the corporation court drops a charge for over-parking. He sent the money with a note while in a physician's office when police charged him. The court said the reason was irrelevant and the charge would be dropped.
