Ships in peril as rescue efforts race along coasts
Rescue ships rushed to aid the small steamer grounded off Massachusetts and a crippled liner battling high seas off Florida. The Konigstein with a fire in her hold was put out near Nova Scotia and is due in New York with 120 passengers. Sixty seven aboard the New Bedford bound steamer were saved after a hull breach left her beached on Naushon Island. The Falcon lost its central propeller 635 miles east of Florida and salvage tug Willet heads to assist.
