United Nations ground commanders in Korea rushed to Tokyo for urgent talks on the entirely new Chinese Communist warfare in Korea. General Walton H. Walker led the high level group as they planned strategy and coordination for intensified operations amid the unexpected turn in the conflict.

Eight inmates escaped Shelby County penal farm by attacking two guards, crashing a dairy truck through gates, and entering the yard. Guards were roughed, then jailed briefly. no injuries.
