Peace Officers Plan Final FBI Conference in Amarillo

Peace officers of the Panhandle will end their year with a quarterly conference with the FBI in Amarillo at Municipal Auditorium on November 30. The meeting starts at 10 30 in the morning and will focus on war time law enforcement and sabotage response. Chief Sid Harper chairs the attendance committee and is joined by Sheriff W L Stout Sheriff Everett Tarbox Polk Ivy Sam Fort Lawrence Flaherty and Sheriff Ray Burton.

Former Sandie star John Estes returns for town visit

John Estes, former Amarillo High tackle in 1930 and 1931, known as a morgue custodian for The Globe-News, was back in town after the game at Pampa. Now with Manhattan Construction Co, he is completing a synthetic rubber plant at Borger and has worked in 36 states, the West Indies and Venezuela. He expects Borger work to finish in two weeks and declined to specify his next destination, joking that his home is wherever his hat is.

Services Are Held For W. D. Beaman

Funeral services for Vinson Dent Beaman 74 who lived on a farm southeast of Amarillo for 27 years were conducted at Boxwell Brothers chapel with Rev A Norrid Central Church of Christ presiding. Interment followed in Llanoceme Park. Beaman died last Monday leaving a widow Alice Beaman and a son Tom.

Two Youths Vanish After Renting Horses at Victory Stables

Two youths rented horses for a one hour canter at Victory Riding Stables on North East Eighth Avenue. By last night the riders had not returned and Earl Dyche notified police that the horses and riders were missing. Police had no new information by this afternoon.

Christian Science Lecture Tonight in Amarillo High School

A free lecture titled Christian Science The Science of Ever-Present Good will be held tonight at 8 o'clock in the High School auditorium. Herbert Stanley Ross C B of New York City, a Board member of The Mother Church, will present the talk under the auspices of First Church of Christ Scientist Amarillo. The second item notes Britain’s Royal Air Force rescuing airmen at sea using high speed launches guided by aircraft radio.

Helium Plant Named For Navajo Indians

The U S Bureau of Mines will build a Navajo Helium Plant on the Navajo Reservation in northeastern Arizona at the old Rattlesnake Field. A pipeline will run to a railroad spur for filling tanks, expanding the U S helium supply for war purposes beyond Amarillo Texas.

Soldier Recovers Wallet Lost in Tank by North Africa Return

James Chamberlain 19 of Kenton Ohio, a Lima Tank Depot war worker, had lost his wallet with four dollars and papers in a sealed tank last April. Pvt Roy Blair of the North African Ordnance Company sent the wallet back with a note “Keep em rolling we need em.” Chamberlain, now unable to work inside due to asthma, gratefully received the unexpected return and the friendly message.
