Thanksgiving call from war veteran returns home

Mrs. C. R. Eaton of 3806 South Tyler Street reports a Thanksgiving greeting from her husband, C. R. Eaton, who arrived in New York from Italy after serving with a National Guard unit that stormed Salerno. He is recovering from a back injury and to be sent to a Texas hospital. The family plans a reunion in Clay Center, Kansas, as sister Alma Eaton arrives from California.

Mr and Mrs H C Black of 310 Maryland Street received a War Department wire reporting their son Staff Sgt Jake O Black reported missing in action over Germany on Oct 10 and held as a prisoner of war. He is an aerial gunner aboard a Flying Fortress and recently earned the Air Medal. He enlisted July 29 1942 with training in Gulfport Mississippi and Las Vegas Nevada.

Luttrell R. F. Dies at 77 in Floydada

R F Luttrell father of two Amarillo women died at his Floydada home early today. Daughters Ruth Hill and Dee Flowers travel to Floydada for the funeral. A sister Mrs V A Hamblen of 1018 West Twelfth Avenue also attends. Services set for 2 p m Wednesday at the Floydada Baptist Church. Burial in Floydada.

Mrs Callie Kennedy Taken by Death in Amarillo

Mrs Callie Kennedy aged 84 died at her daughter’s home on River Road after a long illness. She leaves three daughters Mrs Florence Ukena Mrs Vera Sheff and Mrs W E Todd and a brother Isaac Lawin and three sisters. The body is at Blackburn Shaw memorial chapel.

E A Crosby Funeral Services in Nebraska

Services for Mrs Eben D Warner's father E A Crosby will be held Friday in Southerland Nebraska. Crosby died Saturday morning in California while visiting a son. He often visited Amarillo and spent Christmas there the past several years. The Warners of 1617 Harrison Street will travel to Nebraska for the funeral. A granddaughter Mrs George Parr lives in Amarillo. Burial will be in Southerland Presbyterian Church.
