Forty Apply For Amarillo Postmaster Position
Forty applications for the Amarillo postmaster job were filed by noon today. The deadline for Washington is tomorrow unless papers are air mailed tonight. Five applicants are women. After forms are submitted the civil service exam and investigations proceed before a single appointment is made. Names will not be released to the press at applicants’ request. Postmaster W S Kenyon announced his resignation effective December 1 to focus on private business.

Man Youth Killed In Auto Smash-up Near Turkey
Two men died and a 16 year old was critically injured in a head on collision two miles west of Turkey. The deceased were M O Thrasher 70 a pioneer Hall County gun operator and Flazias McCay 16 a Turkey high school student. The injured Dale Garner 16 also a Turkey high school student was taken to a Dallas hospital. Thrasher traveled west from Turkey when his car crossed into the other lane and collided with McCay's vehicle. Garner was riding with McCay a few miles west of Turkey. Thrasher resided at Gasoline.

Cowboy Singer Faces New Assault Trial
A. M. Thomas, radio cowboy singer, goes to trial in Forty-seventh District Court for assault with intent to murder Homer Hart, leather worker, in a June 24 incident.
