James L. Warner a 30 year old convict sent up in July 1925 for murder and robbery escaped November 13 from the Texas penitentiary and has been recaptured in Hollis Oklahoma prison officials reported. The Coffees Shop at the Amarillo Hotel is famed for food.
The liner President Harding aided the British schooner Veronica after a raid by liquor pirates 100 miles off Cape Sable. Veronica was found without compass or chronometer and all boats smashed. The President Harding replenished provisions and supplied a compass before notifying owner M. K. Warren of Halifax to arrange further aid.
The Texas Wheat Growers Association will distribute more than 600000 dollars as its first equalization payment of the year on a No 1 wheat basis at 15 cents a bushel. Farmers on cooperative marketing receive the average market price, boosting farmer finances amid growing membership in the Panhandle and Oklahoma regions. The association also reports a farm school program with lessons taught nightly across Panhandle communities.
In Chicago on November 20, the defense in the William Fahey case sought to prove Brent Glasscock planned to kill bandits Willie Newton and Herbert Holliday to secure larger loot shares from the Rondout mail train robbery. Judge Cliffe denied the request after excluding the jury.
The Baltimore Post company publishers of the Baltimore Daily Post was indicted by a U S grand jury in a government test case on publication of income tax returns. The five count indictment accuses unlawful publication of the names and tax payments of five men dated October 24.

Washington November 20 The Kansas court of industrial relations again faced the supreme court over its power to set hours of labor in disputes between essential industries and their employees.
Directors of the Texas Grain Sorghum Growers association met in Amarillo with M. D. Ramsey. Plans for marketing sorghum and progressive discussion were on the agenda. Oklahoma and Texas members attended to hear Aaron Sapiro of Chicago address cooperative marketing. Attending directors included G. M. The executive committee of the Texas Wheat Growers Association met in Amarillo for a general checkup and audit of the organization. Books were thoroughly examined and found in excellent condition. Dr. O. H. Loyd of Vega leads the committee with George Menke, Bughland, and Ford Keller Jr. of Electra as associates.
Forty potential members were discussed at a San Jacinto meeting led by Forrest Warren of the San Jacinto Booster with W C Townes and Albert Randall. The group plans to organize a boys band hoped to benefit San Jacinto and Amarillo as part of a community effort tied to The Fair.
A Plymouth Penn fire in the business district claimed five lives and left seven frame buildings ruined. Victims include Mrs Martin Sherako, her 1 year old niece Emily Pestroyski, and three unidentified hotel boarders. Edward Alexton was hospitalized in Wilkes-Barre in serious condition.
The Amarillo Real Estate board will hold a public, open meeting tomorrow at noon in the Amarillo hotel to discuss the city's water supply. Santa Fe railway officials, United States Zinc Smelter executives, and Amarillo Gas officials will attend. G. Odom and J. R. Gant lead the program.
Mrs Warren G Harding former White House mistress was in a semi coma at the White Oak sanitarium under Dr Carl W Sawyer. A bulletin said her heart action was fair after a week at the point of death. In Marion Ohio a telegram from President Coolidge and Mrs Coolidge said they were thinking of her and awaited word of her improvement.

F Z Bishop of the Bishop Land company is reported seriously ill in a Fort Worth sanitarium with influenza and diphtheria. He was in Fort Worth on business when he was stricken. the report came to Amarillo from company members yesterday.
Two thousand acres of fertile farming land near Goodnight will be sold in small tracts to farmers. J. R. Gant announced completion of arrangements with H. J. Willis of Raymond California who has been in the area the past week to finalize sale plans.
Pueblo Colorado November 20 Federal Judge Symes announced he signed last night the order approving the sale of the Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad to the Missouri Pacific and the Western Pacific railroads. Judge Symes said he made only a few minor changes in the order.
