Amarillo Highway 66 route study weighs options
The highway department reviewed four potential paths for Route 66 through Amarillo and favored a north circumferential loop but noted it would miss the business district and other routes serving downtown traffic. A third option would hit East Tenth and Tenth, then westward, but would not suit north south traffic and would cross a built up area. The report by Jac L. Gubbels and James was submitted to the state highway engineer.
