The Potter County Tuberculosis Association launches its 1945 Christmas seal campaign with Ross D. Rogers seeking a $10 000 goal. Seals fund prevention and support the Preventorium opened in 1937, which has treated 745 cases with full medical care provided.
The Preventorium prevents disease by treating tuberculosis in children to make them assets to the community. So far this year 50 children admitted, 41 dismissed, with 7 256 patient days and 21 678 meals served. Examinations via clinic, skin tests, and X rays guided referrals for hospitalization. Underwood Clinic treats adult cases. Potter County Tuberculosis Association reports 5 792 in charity work. The aim remains eradication of tuberculosis.
Prime Minister Attlee of Britain visited the White House to bid farewell to President Truman before ending a week in Washington. Attlee declined to discuss the atomic problem beyond the farewell scene.

Melvin Duncan age 21, son of Mr and Mrs J R Duncan of 1014 Parker, reports December 2 at San Francisco aboard the USS Goodhue after receiving his commission as ensign last Friday. He was commissioned at Cornell University Naval Reserve Midshipmen School Ithaca NY and joined the naval reserve in 1942. He attended Amarillo College briefly and earned a BS at the University of Oklahoma last June. He is a member of the US Electrical Engineers Institute.
