Winn to Audit City Books

In a special session the city commission awarded a contract to Dempsey Winn to audit the municipal books for the current fiscal year starting Oct 1. Cost not to exceed $2,200. The commission also moved Tuesday meeting time from 8 to 7:30. An overhead light petition for Thirty-seventh Avenue and Van Buren Street was sent to Southwestern Public Service Company.

Mrs. Winn reported jewelry valued at about 1500 dollars missing from 1008 West Eleventh Avenue. Sky Freighter Lands in Amarillo on Inaugural Run

An all cargo TWA Sky Freighter landed in Amarillo nine minutes early on the first regular run from the Pacific Coast to New York. The east bound plane was en route to La Guardia Field New York with a load near capacity and the west bound flight from New York arriving late due to heavy weather. Amarillo is one of six coast to coast stops for the inaugural service carrying mail express and priority express only.
