Showdown in China near Suchow airfield sparks clashes

Chinese Communists were reported fighting within five miles of the southeast Suchow airfield, northern gateway to Nanking. All flights in and out of Suchow were suspended as 400,000 Nationalist and Communist forces faced off. Amarillo police charged Jack Lee Taylor 27 with driving while intoxicated after a three way crash at North East Biewnehh and Buchanan on Sunday. A man riding in Taylor’s car was held in connection with a post crash altercation during which Patrolman James Morrison suffered two broken ribs and facial bruising.

Free Tiger Runs Loose At Middlesex Fells. Tiger Shot

Mother's Death Gives Convicts Their Chance

More than 100 law enforcement officers pursued two convicted killers, George S. Houston and Ernest G. Houston, who escaped from guards while attending their mother's funeral in Excelsior Springs Missouri. The brothers, serving life terms for a 1944 Barton County sheriff murder, fled after climbing out a basement window at a hotel. Hot Rodders in Borrowed Plane Create Airport Chaos

At Oakland Municipal Airport two teen pilots, Jimmy McCall and Elmer Varvil, stole a Culver Cadet owned by R G Gillespie and attempted an unsanctioned takeoff.
