Six Die In Two Car Crash Near Snyder

A morning two car smashup on Highway 180 seven miles east of Snyder killed six people. Victims include Snyder resident Holland Treme and five Californians visiting relatives in Henshaw, Ky. $250,000 To Expand Nurses Home Sought

The county seeks 250000 to fund a nurses home with signatures from 10 percent of property owners. Shaffer firm low bidder to handle bonds at 2.90 per thousand, or 725 total, plus 150 if the issue fails. Other bidders were R A Underwood Co and Central Investment Co of Dallas.

US Weather Bureau reports fair conditions for Amarillo and vicinity through Tuesday with a slight warming trend. Today's high near 69 degrees, low 31, tomorrow 72, and 24 hour high 68. Panhandle outlook calls for suitable outdoor weather with clear to partly cloudy skies and a warmer period ahead. New Mexico forecast notes fair today and tonight in the northeast portion this afternoon.

Hunter's Victim Back in School After Duck Hunter Incident

Hollis DeGrassi Jr., 15, returned to Nazareth area high school after being shot in the face by a fender-riding hunter. The attack occurred Saturday near a small lake south of Nazareth while he hunted with two friends. He received at least 15 shotgun pellets to the left cheek and lips and was treated at Tulia Hospital. Sheriff Hugh White is pursuing the unidentified hunters who fled the scene.

Cops Have Damaging Evidence on Suspect

Stan­ley B. Gallat, 25, fled after failing to pay a 60 cent restaurant bill and led police on a 15 mile chase through five suburbs. A police car was wrecked, six officers hurt, and 23 bullets punctured Gallat’s vehicle as he was subdued at his home. Gallat faces resisting arrest assault destruction of property and traffic charges.
