Yeggs Hit Two Firms For About 500 In Cash
Yeggs struck twice last night in a near five hundred dollar haul. The Dock Coffey Pontiac Company at 509 Tyler and the Kirby Company at 3400 West Sixth were hit as safe-men opened heavy vaults. Coffey yielded 432.38 in cash, with little more than that in the safe. Kirby contained 65 in cash plus notes and contracts valued at 1,150. Chief J. L. King praised the Coffey job as professional. Paul Sides of Kirby said the papers inside were valuable to his firm. Burglars entered via rear windows, prying catches and escaping through the back, leaving a six-foot safe open in Coffey and a damaged entry in Kirby. Alton reported the large safe was unlocked when he arrived. Six months prior, Coffey suffered a similar weekend break, netting 629.50 in cash.
