Rift in Texas Federation of Women's Clubs deepens
At Corpus Christi on November 9 the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs entered its second day amid disaffection as Mrs. R F Lindsay of Mount Pleasant resigned as treasurer of the permanent headquarters committee over policy disputes with Mrs. J W Fincher of Houston. The resignation was accepted by a 13 to 12 vote. Lindsay retained her post as general federation director for Texas and noted her support for Roosevelt and Garner during the campaign. The convention discussed funds for a new headquarters in Austin and welfare issues, including unemployment, with next year’s meeting site to be chosen. The board debated whether the president’s term should extend three years. The bachelor’s button, India native, was noted as England’s introduction in 1714.

Stick-Up Nets Cash At Hotel
A masked robber and an outside guard robbed Plaza Hotel staff in San Antonio early this morning, taking about 200 dollars after forcing the cashier to open a drawer. The thief, armed with a heavy revolver, moved victims to the desk and searched them as a dance team outside drew attention. They escaped before police arrived.

Gets Five Years in Elevator Robbery
Herbert W. McBride of Dallas received a five year sentence after a jury convicted him of robbery with firearms for the August 29 lobby holdup of Ben Riddle in a downtown Fort Worth building. Riddle couldn’t identify the robber. elevator operator Willie Baker did. Witness Lasater testified McBride discussed a division of about $900 with Brite and Nabors, who were fatally shot in a car ambush.

Heavy lumber movement from Port Beaumont to foreign ports
A Beaumont dispatch reports a heavy lumber movement from Port Beaumont with shipments of 1,560,000 feet of pine lumber 808,000 feet of pine timber and 641 000 feet of hardwood all cut in the Beaumont district for Europe and a ship carrying 236,000 feet of pine timber to the West Indies. The Bible printed in Braille for blind readers comprises 74 volumes.
