Five workers are reported killed in a blast at the construction or industrial site. The accident details remain unclear as authorities investigate the cause and identify the victims, with emergency teams on scene and witnesses questioned.
In Worcester Massachusetts on November 8 five laborers were blown to pieces by an accidental explosion of eighty pounds of dynamite in a shaft of the Metropolitan Water Development at Coldbrook. Investigators sought the cause as the workers carried dynamite toward the tunnel entrance and the blast occurred en route. The victims were Joseph Edgicomo 35 J Piotti 40 P Ponder 413 Joseph Lukes 38 and Joseph Lorenzo 88.

Miss Imogene Smith filed a $50,000 breach of promise suit against Habib Kahn, once selling hot tamales on Amarillo streets, which was dismissed after a hung jury trial. Kahn sailed for Afghanistan and did not return. the case marked Amarillo’s first breach of promise suit.
Homer Watson an 18 year old from Farmer near Ralls was badly injured when a shotgun discharged while he was getting out of a car. The blast tore away about half the right arm. He was rushed to a Lubbock sanitarium. Boxwell Bros. ambulance was used. Ph. 5211.
Mrs. Virgie Farthing died of wounds inflicted yesterday by her estranged husband Jim Farthing who then killed himself in Phillips near Borger. The couple, long separated, failed to reconcile, and Farthing shot three times before turning the pistol on himself in front of his 6 year old son as witnesses recounted. Both families had moved from Van Zandt County.
Lita Grey former wife of Charley Chaplin and former child star arrives in Amarillo to headline a two day bill at the Fair Theater. She notes Amarillo is rather cold but expects a warm reception and confident in her act. She mentions her two young children are with her mother in New York and she will meet them soon.

An airplane was pressed into service to aid search efforts for the wreckage of a plane seen falling in flames yesterday near Helena. The crash site lies seven miles from Helena in a wooded, sparsely settled area.
The Department of Agriculture projected a 1929 cotton crop of 15,009,000 bales, up from 14,915,000 a month earlier. State totals list Virginia 44,000 to California 242,000 and Texas leading with 4,950,000. The census bureau also reported 10,880,414 running bales ginned by Nov 1, 1929, with 364,751 round bales counted as half bales, compared with 10,162,482 last year.
Police discuss methods to prevent car radiators from freezing with Ed Holloway of the criminal bureau noting corn liquor as effective. He recalls Oklahoma years ago confiscations of rotten liquor, about 30 percent alcohol, used to keep radiators from freezing through winter.

A coupon on page 2 of today's Globe asks bondholders to fill out details to determine totals. If not reported by November 12, holders may be barred from collecting on the bonds. In Washington on Nov 8 Senator Wheeler of Montana assailed Senator Moses of New Hampshire for calling the GOP Independent group "Sons of wild jackasses." Wheeler and others noted the remark at a New England dinner, with Moses presiding and joking about finding a more fitting label if needed.
