A Trans Ocean Air Martin 202 chartered plane carrying 26 Korean War veterans overshot Tucumcari Airport in bad weather. Eight aboard were hospitalized, with at least three in critical condition. Snow Hits North Plains with Second Winter Outbreak
Snow swept the North Plains including the Panhandle Oklahoma and eastern New Mexico for a second time in four days. Amarillo meteorologist H C Winburn warned of up to five inches in the northeastern Panhandle as storm warnings extended into southern Kansas and western and central Oklahoma. Blowing snow and low visibility contributed to a military transport crash near Tucumcari with 27 Korean War veterans aboard. Temperatures were forecast to fall to the low 20s in western Oklahoma and Kansas with highs near 35 in Amarillo. Weather improvers denied cloud seeding as the source of today’s snow and said no seeding will occur before April 1.

T. J. Prichard of Canyon marked his 100th birthday with a 17 minute airplane ride over Amarillo, joining son Reginald and Bob Siler from Tradewind Airport.
