Hyde Park New York November 5 President Roosevelt cast his ballot at 12 20 P M as the 292nd voter spending 65 seconds behind the booth he joked about a bald spot His wife and his 86 year old mother watched Cameras crowded the hall as he greeted election officials Willkie voted at 9 42 A M EST and urged all Americans to vote He appeared amid cheers with his son Philip and wife joining him at public school No 6 in New York City He stressed voting as a duty and privilege and thanked supporters nationwide.
Col. Lucie Barker, Amarillo parade marshal for Armistice Day, had a second interview at city hall this afternoon. Police Chief W. R. McDowell and Traffic Captain Sid Harper arranged march clearance. Earlier, Barker discussed observance plans with Mayor Ross Rogers.
Loot from parked cars last night is being recovered this afternoon. About $300 in goods stolen from a car at a tourist court Monday morning was found in a dog house by police.
Ed Holloway charged with cattle stealing sent to a 47th district court jury in Claude after a prior deadlocked trial. The case will resume criminal business in Amarillo next week amid court convening.

This was the first general election in 44 years without local support for "Cactus Jack."
Shriners of the Panhandle train for the Khiva ceremonial dance on November 20. A Thursday night old fashioned dance lesson at the Nat runs 7 30 to 9 30 with admission limited to a 1940 card. Afterward the group and their ladies will be guests at the Nat.
The master list of draft order numbers arrived at Potter County selective service boards in Amarillo. Clerks are cancelling numbers not applicable to the county and officials urged men not to call for details as local lists cannot be completed for about two days. The first two numbers drawn in Washington, 158 and 192, remain the same on the local lists.
Building permits issued at city hall added 8000 to the total, bringing two day construction costs to 115000. Early today the permits were granted for a 4000 residence to J. P. Collier at 1400 Hughes Street a 2800 house to Modern Housing at 715 North Roberts and a 3100 home to J. M. Lefforge at 307 Belleview.
Mrs. Carl Cuttita welcomed two daughters Wendy and Louise and a son Willkie. The father announced the names of the newborns on the eve of their birth in New York.

Funeral services for Elza E. Coston 32 of Amarillo were held at Blackburn-Shaw Chapel with Rev. J. D. McLaughlin officiating. Coston died from injuries suffered in a highway crash five miles north of Happy. He worked for Harris Food Stores and is survived by his mother Barbara Elaine Coston two brothers Homer and Ronnie and sister Mrs W L Tomberline. The body was taken to Goodnight for burial.
Amarillo's modernized building code returns from New York with seven pages of changes from the national board of fire underwriters. Wallace Hazlewood, city building inspector and secretary of the building code committee, says the ordinance will go to the state fire insurance commissioner after revisions and will be ready to present in Austin.
Sir Arthur Henry Rostron, former Cunard commodore and captain of the Carpathia, which rescued Titanic survivors in 1912, died yesterday at Chippenham Hospital of pneumonia.
Amarillo plays a pivotal role as four airlines prepare to argue for two new air routes at Civil Aeronautics hearings opening in Washington on November 14. One route links Amarillo with Denver with Continental and Braniff seeking designation. the other runs from Amarillo to San Antonio and Houston via Lubbock, Big Spring, and Abilene, pursued by TWA Braniff and Essair. The hearings are expected to last six days or more with a decision not expected soon after. A chamber of commerce briefing praising Panhandle natural advantages and Amarillo as an air center will be used at the hearing.
