In the final pre election rush the Democrats face a close battle as 30 million voters decide control of Congress. The Supreme Court ordered Senator Huey P. About twenty thousand people cheered the aviators as Los Angeles celebrated the trans Pacific journey begun here. Kingsford Smith praised Taylor's navigation and called himself a spare part.

In Austin the Senate moved on a 5 million dollar Texas Centennial appropriation while the House balked, adopting a rule obstacle. Rep Henry C Kyle presented whiskey evidence near the capitol to urge closing bookmaking and saloons, but the measure failed to suspend the rule. adjournment for a fourth special session set for noon Saturday.

The Seventh Court of Civil Appeals denied Queen Miller former sheriff of Foard County a writ to compel District Judge W N Stokes of Vernon to set a trial date on embezzlement charges. Miller argued delay after promising to plead guilty. the judge denied promising to set the case.
The International Statistical Bureau estimates the November 1 cotton crop at 9,549,000 bales with ginning at 7,810,000 bales. In New Haven, William Warms, acting captain of the liner Morro Castle, pleads not guilty to five counts of negligence as officials review licenses. five specifications allege negligence in the September disaster that killed 134.
Amarillo and vicinity expect clear skies tonight and Tuesday with warmer conditions. West Texas predicts fair conditions, rising temperatures especially in the north, while New Mexico also stays fair with little temperature change. Temperatures across the region range from 46 to 62 degrees today.

At Camp EB in Louisiana state penitentiary guards shot and killed one convict and wounded four others during an attempted break from a potato patent plant. The inmate escape bid was halted by gunfire from guards.
In Lubbock on November 5 state attorneys outlined swift prosecution plans for Virgil Blakup and Clarence Brown for the Dickens County jail slaying of Sheriff W B Arthur. They were captured after fleeing West Texas officers and sent to Lubbock for grand jury review. Stalcup faces 264 years, Brown 19 years.
George L. Lindsay a 54 year old Amarillo businessman and civic leader died at Northwest Texas Hospital after a heart ailment. He came to Amarillo in 1907 joining Panhandle Steam Laundry and led it at his death. Born June 5 1876 in Sherman he left school early to work as a messenger and later street railway motorman. Funeral services will be at Central Presbyterian Church at 5 pm with Rev. R. Thomsen officiating.
The Golden Sandie Special from Amarillo to Lubbock departs Amarillo Monday at 9:00 AM and arrives in Lubbock at noon. It leaves Lubbock at 6:30 PM and reaches Amarillo at 9:30 PM. A special round trip rate of 245 dollars is offered due to high ticket demand, announced by Banta Fe general passenger agent T. B. Gallaher.
