The Pinkney Packing Company announced it can no longer perform custom slaughtering for the public. The storage meat would count against its wholesale quota, which is already limited, prompting the halt to protect the commercial quota.
Sir Hubert Wickins visits the B F Goodrich plant in Akron to press for a new warm yet breathable shoe for U S troops in extreme cold. He cites moisture buildup on long marches and freezing feet when soldiers lie wounded on ice, urging a shoe that vents moisture.
The Office of Price Administration asks local boards to appoint tire inspectors on a fee basis from competent tire men. Inspectors need not be in the tire business but must know tire maintenance and have examination facilities. Inspections of passenger car tires begin December 1.

A cache of 82 700 quinine pills discovered at the Laguna Honda Home in San Francisco has been kept intact since the 1906 earthquake and fire. The stock, shipped during the epidemic fears, was found amid old drug supplies.
Funeral services for Clarence Eugene Callahan Jr., two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Callahan, who died last night, will be held tomorrow at 5:30 PM from the Church of Christ in Friona. Odell White will officiate. He is survived by his parents and two sisters Frances Ann and Connie Magene. The body will be in state at Boxwell Brothers Chapel until noon tomorrow, then transported to Friona for burial in Friona Cemetery.
Red Cross first aid courses invite registrations with a morning class at 9 o clock Thursdays at the First Baptist Church taught by E. L. Price from 9 to 11 on Mondays and Thursdays. A Tuesday night class will start in the Southwestern Public Service basement taught by E. W. Robinson on Tuesday and Friday evenings. Amarilloans may register by calling the Red Cross office 26571.
