President Roosevelt is shown winning a record four-year term as incomplete returns from UPI show the incumbent ahead nationwide. The early tally indicates Roosevelt has secured a landslide victory with two remaining states still undecided.
Early returns show Franklin D. Roosevelt leading nationally with big margins. Landon carries only eight electoral votes from Maine and Vermont as Roosevelt gains across New England and the South. Democratic control of the House appears secure with a two thirds majority likely, while Senate balance leans Democratic with Farm Labor and Progressive members in the mix.
In Topeka on November 4 Governor Alf M Landon outlined a program of state business rest and duck hunting the day after his Roosevelt defeat. He telegraphed Roosevelt to congratulate him and said he expects to go duck hunting in Kansas in a few days.
A roaring bull market in industrial shares outweighed an early setback in utility stocks as election results rolled in. Industrials surged 50 cents to $4 a share, with several hitting new highs, while utilities slipped briefly due to New Deal regulation, but the overall market remained buoyant.
In Royal Oak Michigan on November 4 Father Charles E Coughlin said both Caesar and Napoleon were toy soldiers compared to the Power the people voted to Roosevelt.
Community fund drive reports a chest budget subscription of 8541.40 with members urged to complete giving. Local organizers request volunteers to ensure full participation and timely delivery of services funded by the drive.

Nov 4 dispatch from Lisbon reports Spanish nationalist artillery blasting the southern suburbs of Madrid and rebel troops advancing on a wide front toward the city. Getafe Airdrome and nearby rail facilities were reportedly destroyed while towns like Mostoles and Villaviciosa fell. A key Madrid defector allegedly provided vital defense information.
Potter County voters cast for Roosevelt by a wide margin with 5,968 votes to 923 for London and under 150 for other nominees in 22 complete precincts. Congressman Marvin Jones led Republicans with a large margin over Judge S E Fish, and Theodore Conrad of Groom led Union Party votes. Sparse Socialist and Communist support noted in the county.
In Louisiana near Calvin six miles north of Winnfield an express train during a seven week strike faced sniper fire. Guard Max Osborne 30 of Rodessa was killed, fireman E J Waskom was shot in the jaw, engineer F R Bacon was grazed and kept piloting. The train halted at Winnfield two hours later with Osborne dead and Waskom wounded. This marks the third death in the Louisiana Arkansas Railway strike involving 500 trainmen from the Big Four unions.
Franklin R. Bacon of Amarillo piloted the train through the strike area this morning. A former Santa Fe Railway fireman and engineer, Bacon left Amarillo about six weeks ago for Louisiana and is listed in the city directory at 1999 Pierce Street.
