City records show Amarillo daily water consumption last October averaged 5.374 million gallons, up from 4.683 million in October 1939, an increase of about 691 thousand gallons per day. The rise reflects higher usage compared to the previous year.

Draft registrants who volunteer now have the advantage of choosing land or naval forces. Both selective service boards in Amarillo are accepting applications of volunteers. At noon today 12 of the 6,769 registrants had volunteered. Volunteers must await classification but are subject to call to begin service Nov. 18, date of first induction.
