Motherhood Halts chase for escaped doe at zoo
Hildegarde, a 44 year old doe from Forest Park Zoo, escaped yesterday and outran pursuers. Zookeeper Hamilton Hutson called off the hunt this morning fearing injury to an unborn fawn due today. The doe was last seen in the Clear Fork River bottoms after eluding 30 men and a fast car.

National Re-Employment Bureau kept in Amarillo
The National Re-Employment Bureau serving 38 West Texas counties will stay in Amarillo as Potter County commissioners fund incidental expenses. Ex Convict Palmer Trial Near Jury in Calkins Slaying
Edinburg May 30 The trial of Richard A. Palmer an ex convict for the slaying of Percy A. Calkins nears its jury as the defense rests without witnesses. The state had rested earlier with Palmer’s arrest statements while McAlister now on death row for the Houston salesman killing. Calkins was killed after meeting two men near Edinburg March 30 and his body found in a cactus patch the next day.
