Murdock Retains Southwestern Title in Narrow Win

Frankie Hill Murdock from Waxahachie defended his Southwestern states junior heavyweight crown last night at the Sports Arena defeating Dory Funk of Tascosa by penalty after Funk could not return for the third fall due to a freak accident. Referee George Bruckman intervened as Murdock and Funk tumbled, leaving Funk with bruises but no fracture. Weidner, Silverstein, Overhuls, Martindale, La Due, and Trudell also appeared in a mixed program ending with a 30 minute draw in the tag team opener amid rioting.
