Kansas City livestock sales May 25 show hogs steady to 10 cents lower across weights with sows down slightly and cattle market weak for slaughter steers and yearlings. In Chicago hogs steady to slow with top around 13.79 per hundredweight. cattle and calves mixed with fed steers and yearlings steady to higher in spots. Financial note: industrial fund liquidating at 1.79 to 1.97.

Crappie and Catfish Feed at Buffalo Lake Fishing Day

Buffalo Lake is productive with crappie and catfish as 68 fishing permits were issued yesterday. Most anglers reported success though big bass remained elusive. A party of three caught 104 crappie in under two hours, illustrating strong fishing effort by local visitors.

Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden stated that Gen Charles de Gaulle's French Committee of National Liberation will be recognized as the acting government of all parts of Metropolitan France as Allied forces occupy each section. Buel Maberry Dies Suddenly

Buel G Maberry longtime Santa Fe assistant pass clerk died at his home after a heart attack. He came to Amarillo in 1906 and was 59. Survived by wife Margery Ann daughter and son James William and a sister and cousin. An elder in First Presbyterian Church and a Mason. Funeral services likely Saturday announced by Griggs and Sons.

Two Die in Car Crash North of Dumas

Two men died and three were hospitalized after a head on collision on the Stratford Dumas highway about 11 miles north of Dumas last night. Hewitt C Edwards and Howard T Gee, both of Dumas, were killed. B C Brown Monroe Dickey both of Childress and Lawrence Miller of Dumas were injured. Brown and Dickey were listed in critical condition at the Cactus Ordnance hospital. Edwards driven alone in a coupe while others rode in a northbound coach en route to work on a Kerlyn Oil Company well 20 miles north of Dumas. Sheriff P F Young said Edwards likely drove on the wrong side, with the crash on the east side of the highway. Edwards body taken to Amarillo and in state at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home with services planned at Estelline First Baptist Church Friday. Edwards is survived by his wife and several relatives. Gee’s body is in state at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Dumas. This marked Moore County’s second fatality this week after Mrs Kay Gresham died in a crash seven miles west of Dumas Tuesday.

Shot Down By Japs Now Visiting Here

Captain Sug Roberts, long time Amarillo resident and 1937 Amarillo High graduate, returned to the city today after suffering a back injury in a crash when Japanese forces damaged his plane. He is an instructor at Davis-Monthan Field in Tucson and plans a brief stopover with his parents before continuing to Dumas.

Safe Is Cracked In Two Break-Ins By Yeggs

Burglars cracked two safes last night at Mid Central Fish Co and Loose Wiles Biscuit Co. At 300 North Tyler Street the thiefs netted 4 pennies and four War Bonds with a face value of 175 dollars. Entry came through a window and the safe was carried to a sound proof vault. Police found the scene at 4 44 this morning. An earlier break in at 100 North Taylor Street showed entry by a window with one lock punched out while another pin prevented it from opening. Fingerprints were wiped from both safes.
