Five hours of rain swelled the San Antonio river three feet above normal and blocked traffic. Police warned motorists at Brackenridge park as a motorist abandoned a car in ten feet of water near a rail viaduct. South Presa Street homes flooded. water reached about three feet.

Los Angeles police received Marie Cochran testimony alleging husband Lee Cochran and M. B. Colson planned and carried out an $85,000 holdup of Agua Caliente and Tia Juana company funds near San Diego. Two guards were killed in the gunfight. Cochran’s wife was arrested in Long Beach while corroborating statements linked to Jerry Kearney’s wife and a wounded suspect.

Flames leaped 100 feet into the air from the Railto building roof in Seattle as a brisk wind drove a blaze through downtown. Firemen were beaten back, traffic halted, and the city’s entire firefighting force crowded the scene. Boxwell Bros. ambulance responded.
In Chicago on May 24 Arthur Johnson, described as Scotch, faced divorce filings from wife Helen. She alleges desertion and notes his quirks including banning vacuum use, shouting boom on July Fourth, clock moving to avoid extra purchases, and moving to his mother's room. In Paintsville Kentucky on May 24 the mother and counsel for six and a half year old Carl Newton Mahan filed a motion for a new trial and for a writ to prohibit his transfer to Greendale reformatory after his conviction for man slaughter The judge overruled the motions prompting a potential hearing tomorrow in Lexington counsel seek to delay the transfer and obtain relief before district judge J Bailey
Jack Wheatley has left for Corpus Christi to fulfill plumbing and heating contracts at the Baptist Church in Taft and at Falfurrias. He also has work at the Baptist church and Montgomery Ward building in Big Spring. The Wheatleys now reside at 1925 Harrison Street.
Testimony in district court claimed Judge R H Hamilton had been threatened by Tom Walton Jr. The threats came via a letter to Theresa Walton and through Harry Bishop. Hendricks testified he sold a gun to Hamilton before the shooting and that Hamilton discussed threats prior to the gun transfer. Florence Hendricks and Hamilton’s daughter Theresa Walton were among the witnesses. Theresa was ill and excused awaiting further needed testimony. See SELF DEFENSE Page 2
In Lebanon on May 24 three children were found dead near a cemetery. Their mother Mrs Mamie Shey Shoaf lay nearby with throat cut and later died. Coroner said she killed her children and then took her own life. Children named Tom Porter Shoaf 2 Ina Louise 7 Catherine 11. Family said she feared financial troubles and warned she could not endure another day like this.
The 141st general assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America adopted a recommendation for organic union with five large Protestant church bodies. It calls for commissions to confer with counterparts from the Protestant Episcopal Church South and the Presbyterian Church in the United States South, following an invitation from the Episcopal Church in 1928.
